This Is Not A Trash Can

Growing up, my grandmother had a sign that adorned our pool area, which profoundly embarrassed me as a teenager when our friends came over for a swim. It read:

Today, these signs aren't as embarrassing as much as they are hilarious. Everywhere I look there's material for a joke. From misspelled signs to mislabeled objects; what's funnier, perhaps, is how many people walk along without even noticing them.

One of my favorites is a warning sign behind Epcot Center that reads: "High voltage: Touch this and you're fired!"

While visiting our local arcade last month, we bought a bottled water at the food court. Next to the food court there was a trash bin labeled: "This is not a trash can."

Just like Magritte's pipe (Ceci n'est pas une pipe) reads: "This is not a pipe," incongruities are something people love to laugh at because they're just plain funny.

Here's a collection of signs that are sure to get a chuckle...

A Road Sign In The Mountains
Ya' think?

A Notification In North Vancouver
Bark twice if you can read this sign...

Then there are signs just egging you on....
Always remember to read the fine print

In the winter, this same mountain resort puts up a sign that reads:
"Go ahead...Try it. Your tongue won't stick to this frozen pole"

Ladies and gentlemen, the pièce de résistance goes to Texas.

This is one pastor with a sense of wicked humor!
