The happiest of thoughts live on a golden lake in the Americas, fed by mountain streams and brooks flowing out into a wide river of great beauty; wild cattle and sheep grazing around its banks.
Happy Thoughts Travel Fast is so named because the atmosphere carries golden joy down from the mountains and deposits it into the lake. Gold is so common in this area that the locals pay little attention to it and it can be picked up on the shore by the handful.
It was a joke never before written, whose posts were laden with typos and the occasional runon sentences, but voyagers who had never before sailed through happy thoughts found it charming. They paid attention to those charming oddities. They found comfort in their presence.
They traveled far and wide to reach the base of golden mountain. A hill near a rose-filled village. It is famous for being home to a banished princess. She brought but a few small artefacts from her world. Tiny statues older than the oldest trees in the Redwoods.
The sultan, lord of her homeland, could not travel here. The little bit of gold she brought she spread around the village. This made the locals very happy. She had no value for it. She did not think of such things.
A Frenchman who once knew her discovered the secret treasure was captured at the peak of golden mountain. Anxious to recover the gold, he immediately set of for the peak, led by a German and a Greek on board a dirigible. They were never heard from again, but locals say that on a full moon, at 11pm every night, they could hear laughter.
At first it sounded like sprinkler water, but the longer they listened, the more they recognized its levity. The more familiar they became with this levity, the more they embraced the happiest of thoughts. And even sent tribute in the form of weathered grey sandstones, which they placed at the mountain's edge.
One such group stood by those stones and sang of old prophecies, while the mayor declared the land rightfully theirs and that they shall hence forth be known as a laughing paradise that welcomed travelers and friends alike.
