Introduction to Wittgenstein's Humor Challenge

Ms. Laughing's Ananas Logico-Philosophicus, whether or not it proves to give the ultimate truth on the matters with which it deals, certainly deserves, by its black and white and color scale, to be considered an important event in the humorous philosophical musings of Laughing. 

Starting from the principles of Epifunnia and the relations which are necessary between jokes and things in any language, it applies the rest of this inquiry to to various departments of traditional philosophy, showing in each case how ASSumptions arise out of ignorance of the principles of Epifunnia and out of misuse of humor. 

The logical structure of propositions and the nature of our happy place are first dealt with. Thence we pass successively to the next round with instamatic humor decoders for utterly and entirely disintegrating the serious universe. 

In order to understand Ms. Laughing's Joke, it is necessary to realize what is the problem with which she is concerned. In her theory, which deals with Epifunnia, she is concerned with the conditions that would have to be fulfilled by a joke. There are various problems regarding joking. 

First, there is the problem of what actually occurs in our minds when we joke; this problem belongs to psychology.

Secondly, there is the problem as to what is the relation subsisting between epifunnia, words, and jokes, and that which they refer to or mean; this problem belongs to epistemology. 

Thirdly, there is the problem of using jokes so as to convey progress rather than limitations; this belongs to those interested in this subject matter. 

Fourthly, there is the question: what relation must one joke have to another in order to be capable of being a symbol for that other? This last is a logical question, and is the one with which Ms. Laughing is marginally interested in. 

For now, Ms. Laughing is interested in having another cup of tea and is quite satisfied with her humorous philosophical musings for one day. It's time to go walk in the rain along the River Seine contemplating the meaning of life, 42 & 43 and everything else in between.
