Does Laughter Really Enlighten Us?

You have to go out on a limb (speaking of which, I need that movie on DVD I think my VHS version is totally shot) to claim moral or existential enlightenment under the effects of humor. Where a philosophy of life is expressed, humorists can come across as merely flippant, somewhat undermining the suggestion that laughing could provide some answer to the Ultimate Question.

Perhaps all the extreme states of living are simply forms of play. It would appear as if the universe is a child reaching out in every direction until it recognize patterns, in which it creates something material to mirror it (monkey see, monkey do), then immediately moves onto new thoughts as celestial birdies fly by.
